Season 7 Episode 8 - Turned Taquete

Season 7 Episode 8 - Turned Taquete

This is a great episode that will help you get blocks that look close to Turned Twill, on just 4 shafts. Turned Taquete is a wee marvel with a straight draw threading and the ability to manipulate 2 blocks on 4 shafts. I'm a firm believer in understanding what I'm doing at the loom, like....how the heck does this work? How did the structure come about, what's its journey....because, if you know that you will be able to bring your own ideas around colour and graphic to reality.

Things we will learn:

How to turn a draft.
-Turned Taquete is related to weft faced Summer and Winter.
-The sett for your warp yarn is typically increased because you are making a warp predominant fabric.
-Sometimes warp shifting occurs and we will learn to deal with that.
-D/L combinations provide your blocks.
-You must shift the DL to LD wherever you want a block change, just like log cabin.
-On 4 shafts it has 2 easy-to-treadle blocks.
-Turned Taquete is an awesome one-shuttle weave structure.
-You can repeat your treadling units as many times as you want.
-We can also weave the warp in plain weave (unbalanced), warp predominant Repp, or 2/2 Twill.
-We can overlay these ideas on old canvases.
-We can overlay ideas about division of space and repetitive sequence onto the structure.
